Buckover Garden Village

500 acre site that secured an allocation within the West of England Combined Authority’s draft Joint Spatial Plan (now abandoned) for a new Garden Village comprising 3,000 homes, 30 acres of employment space and associated community, educational and green infrastructure.

David was the development lead for this project between 2018-22 and the achievements listed below relate to his stewardship of the project.

  • Working closely with the Tortworth Estate (as landowner) who are actively involved in the design and consultation process.

  • Assembly of a professional team capable of developing a vision and strategy for the delivery of a 21st-century Garden Village aligned to the Estate’s social and environmental values and St. Modwen’s responsible business ambitions.

  • Extensive consultation within the local community, local authority, parishes, stakeholders and service providers to address concerns and champion the opportunities that growth and investment in rural South Gloucestershire would bring.

  • Working with the multi-disciplinary team to develop an innovative sustainability strategy to include a fossil fuel-free development and net zero transport strategy.
